Jim Zamzow talks about how to properly water your lawn. Lawns in South West Idaho share a lot of qualities with other areas that have hard, compact clay soils. Watering your lawn properly will help ensure that you won’t get fungus, insects, or disease. The only way to know if you are properly watering your lawn is to measure with a straight sided can. Place the cans in various parts of your lawn. Time your sprinklers to see how long it will take to collect a 1/2 inch of water in the can. When it comes to mowing lawns in the heat of summer, you want to adjust your lawn mower to its highest setting or about 4 1/2 inches in height. This taller height will help keep the moisture in the soil.
