Here is a blurb about the play: Lawnpeople follows the journey of a Mexican woman, Solymar, working as a housekeeper for a wealthy black Southern couple. Solymar has just lost her mother to gang violence in Mexico, leaving her daughter without family in their dangerous hometown. Solymar decides she must bring her daughter up from Mexico as soon as possible, but that is not an easy task. She and her new husband Felix are illegal immigrants who made their way into the country with the help of coyotes. Felix is more interested in accruing money to start his own lawn business than helping Solymar with her mission. Meanwhile, the wife of the couple that they work for is becoming so emotionally involved with Solymars troubles that its threatening the wellbeing of her marriage. Her husband believes that paying Solymar and Felix for their services is the best help they can offer, but she feels compelled to do much more. Race, class, and the deepest matters of the heart are at odds in this play about love …
